Soroco boys fall short on the road
Steamboat Springs — The Soroco High School boys basketball team was down and out early playing Saturday against West Grand. The Rams picked themselves up and got back in the game but couldn’t come all the way back for the win.
Soroco lost at West Grand, 53-46.
“It was a tough, defensive battle,” coach Shawn Hayes said. “We fought back, battled hard, but it was just a little too late.”
The Rams trailed by as many as 12 in the game, but Hayes said the team couldn’t summon the offensive consistency or free-throw shooting percentage it needed to climb all the way back.
Eric Logan scored 17 to lead the team. Storm Veilleux had 12 and Warren Hayes had 11.
Soroco dropped to 6-3 with the loss. The team next plays at home Tuesday against Vail Christian.
