Soccer team hosts Aspen

— The Steamboat Springs High School girls soccer team will play in Steamboat for the first time this season when they take on Aspen tonight at the high school’s Gardner Field.

The Sailors, who have been playing their home games in Hayden, will be looking to rebound from a 1-0 loss to Rifle on Tuesday night.

The Sailors and Bears played 64 minutes without a score in the game. But Rifle’s Dana Clemons helped her team earn the win by launching a corner kick into a crowded area in front of the Steamboat goal. The ball bounced off of one of the Sailors and into the net for the go-ahead score

Steamboat was unable to answer in the final 16 minutes.

Steamboat is now 2-1 in the conference and 5-4 overall.
