Snowboarders earn five podiums

Steamboat Springs snowboarders shined last weekend in a United States of America Snowboard Association event at Copper Mountain.

The team picked up five podiums in a day of competition in slopestyle and snowboard cross.

Ryan Merritt was first in the youth men’s snowboard cross event and Grace Drobek first in the breaker girls. Rebecca Dillon was second in the menehune girls snowboard cross, Winston Vaughan third in breaker boys snowboard cross and Spencer Vaughan third in men’s open slopestyle.



In slopestyle, Merritt had a sixth-place finish and Cody Winters was 15th, both in the youth men category. Braden Duty was seventh in grommet boys and Johnny Duty 11th in breaker boys.

In snowboard cross, Cade Klawiter was 12th in youth men and Sophie Scheel fourth in menehune girls.
