On Friday, Steamboat Springs officials reported that slope failures on the hilltop above several sections of Sunlight Drive, a primary access road for the Sunlight neighborhood, had led to the closure of the road.
According to the city, the route will remain closed for approximately 4-6 weeks to allow for repair work. During the closure, the Sunlight neighborhood can be accessed through a secondary access way via an unmarked detour along Indian Trail to U.S. Highway 40.
The city also warned that motorists should expect increased traffic at that intersection over the next month.
