Six local youth win at competition

— Blake Eddington was one of six winners in the area NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick football competition, which was held in Steamboat Springs on Sept. 25.

Eddington’s score of 223 feet, 3 inches helped him win his age division (10- and 11- year-old boys). Other winners included Morgan Mertz who topped the 8-9 girls division and Hannah Moore who won the 10-11 girls division.

Isiah Forsyth won the boys 8-9 division with a score of 176-3. Patrick Dickey won the 12-13 group with a score of 198-2 and Zeke Henry topped the 14-15 age division with a score of 183 feet.

The winners will now advance to the section competition, which will take place Oct. 13 in Longmont.

The Punt, Pass and Kick football competition allows youngsters to showcase their talents in punting, passing and placekicking with scores based on accuracy and distance. A number of former and current NFL players have competed in the events in the past, including record-setting quarterbacks Dan Marino and Drew Bledsoe.
