Service to increase with additional weekend bus

For Steamboat Today

— Regional bus service is set to increase with an additional weekend bus.

Steamboat Springs Transit will begin operating an additional regional bus on weekend days beginning Sunday.

Currently, Steamboat Springs Transit operates two buses in each direction on weekdays and a single bus on weekends. Last winter, on several occasions, the weekend bus was at capacity, and people were denied service.

In response to this issue and citing increasing ridership trends on the regional bus, Steamboat Springs Transit is adding a second bus on weekends to meet the projected need.

The weekend schedule will be the same as the current weekday schedule with the first bus departing from the Regional Transit Facility in Craig at 5:50 a.m. and the second departing one hour later at 6:50 p.m.

In the evening, the bus will return to Craig from Steamboat Springs, departing the Gondola Transit Center at 4:25 and 5:25 p.m. Specific regional bus stop locations and times can be obtained at steamboatsprings.net or by calling 970-879-3717.
