Searchers rescue injured fisherman
August 3, 1995
Steamboat Springs — For the second time this month, Routt County Search and Rescue personnel hiked into the Flat Tops to rescue an injured fisherman.
Bryan Eugene Baril of Westminster was rescued Sunday after he rolled his four-wheeler and broke numerous bones.
He was admitted at Routt Memorial Hospital with a collapsed lung, multiple broken ribs and a broken collar bone. He was in fair condition.
Baril was driving a four-wheeler on the Heart Lake trail near the Routt County-Rio Blanco County border at about 8:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. Heart Lake is southeast of Yampa, approximately 30 miles south of Steamboat Springs.
Sheriff's investigator Paul Pirnat said Baril indicated he was traveling down a hill, away from the lake, when the four-wheeler rolled and landed on top of him.
