School board will consider employee compensation package

— The Steamboat Springs Board of Education plans to meet Monday to discuss whether to approve a tentative employee compensation agreement for district staff.

The Steamboat Springs School District’s Collaborative Bargaining Team agreed May 10 to a compensation package that includes step increases for eligible employees and boosting the salaries of two classified positions that were more than 5 percent below market level rates.

Faced with increasing healthcare costs, the district has also picked up the increase in costs rather than passing the burden onto employees.



Employees held a vote Friday on the package, with 124 employees voting in favor, seven opposed and three abstaining from the vote.

The step increases are expected to cost about $440,000, with the full employee package, including health insurance cost increases, retirement plan cost increases and other components, totaling $670,000.



The board meets at 5:30 p.m. at the district office boardroom, 325 Seventh St.
