Sailors stumble in soccer opener

— The Steamboat Springs High School boys soccer team scored plenty of goals Saturday in its season-opening game. Unfortunately for the Sailors, its opponent, Mullen, did, as well.

The Mustangs scored five second-half goals to take a 7-3 win against Steamboat.

The Sailors got a pair of goals from Ross VanHara and one from Cruz Archuleta, while Murphy Bohlmann and Marat Washburn both contributed assists. Seven players scored for Mullen, however, allowing the team to keep a perfect record and improve to 2-0.

Steamboat will try Tuesday for its first win of the season, playing at home against Moffat County.
