Sailors soccer overwhelms Summit

Joel Reichenberger

The Steamboat Springs High School girls soccer team bounced back from an overtime loss to cruise against Summit on Thursday night, going on the road to beat the Tigers 5-0.

The Sailors got two goals each from Jordi Floyd and Natalie Bohlmann. Kenzie Ganzmann then knocked one in while the defense locked Summit down.

It was a big step forward for the Sailors, which needed overtime to secure a 3-2 win against Summit early in the season playing in Steamboat. The Sailors entered Thursday’s game coming off a tough 2-1 overtime loss Tuesday night to rival Battle Mountain, but didn’t come out hung up on that result as they dismantled Summit.

Steamboat, 7-2, now returns home to play at 1 p.m. Saturday against Palisade. The Bulldogs are 4-3 following a 5-2 loss Thursday night against Eagle Valley.
