Sailors’ runners 1st at Liberty Bell tournament in Littleton
September 14, 2017
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The growth and development of the Steamboat Springs High School cross country team has been evident in plenty of places, but one that's always caught the eye of coach Lisa Renee Tumminello has been one of the team's biggest tests of the early portion of the season, the Liberty Bell Invitational in Littleton.
Two years ago the Sailors' girls team was third in No. 3 division at the massive Front Range meet.
"That was really the beginning of our team making a big showing among other top teams in the state," Tumminello said.
A year ago, the squad was second.
There was only one way for things to get better, and Saturday, they did.
"This year," Tumminello said, "they stood on the podium in first."
