Sailors knock off Glenwood in 4

The Steamboat Springs High School volleyball team already beat Glenwood Springs this season. How big could a second win really be?

It could be very big, coach Wendy Hall said Saturday, after her team delivered with a four-set victory on the road.

Steamboat won, 25-21, 25-13, 22-25, 25-18.

“We were playing a team ranked higher than us, that was coming off a big win, that has a better record and in their gym,” Hall said. “It was a really good win for Steamboat.”

The win keeps Steamboat in fourth place in its league and away from the regional tournament bubble in the state.

Micah Feeley, nearing full speed again after a shoulder injury slowed her earlier this fall, led the team with 15 kills. Anna Allsberry had 11, while Wyleigh Myers racked up 32 digs and was 18 for 18 from the service line.

“She had a very solid day for us,” Hall said of Myers.

Next up for Steamboat, 10-11 and 5-5 in the Western Slope League, is a trip Thursday to play at Eagle Valley, the top team in the league. The Sailors then welcome Rifle, the last-place team in the league, on Saturday to wrap up the regular season.

“We feel good about where this team is and how far it’s come,” Hall said. “It’s been super fun to see their growth throughout the season. We’re definitely getting to the point where we want to be, peaking.”
