Sailors hockey falls again, looks toward 1st home game

Ben Ingersoll

— The struggles continue for Steamboat Springs High School hockey and its treacherous road stretch to start the 2014-15 season.

The Sailors traveled to state power Regis Jesuit on Saturday night, hung tough for a little more than a period but ultimately fell big, 6-2. Steamboat remains winless this winter.

Regis Jesuit reeled off three goals through the first two periods before the Sailors got on the board. Jordan Gorr finally found the back of the net when it was 4-0, but the Raiders poured in two more goals before Peter Wharton closed the game off on a short-handed score.

The Sailors finally will be home for their season debut at Howelsen Ice Arena on Friday against Chatfield. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m.
