Sailors girls XC team shines on Front Range

— The girls varsity team set the pace for the Steamboat Springs High School cross country team Friday as it traveled for a huge Front Range meet at Heritage High School in Littleton.

The girls team placed second in its division, losing only to first-place finisher Roosevelt by three points. It edged out Valor Christian by another three points.

Winter Boese led the way for the team, placing fifth in the 5-kilometer race with a time of 19 minutes, 31 seconds. Maggi Congdon wasn’t far behind, placing ninth in her first high school race. She was in at 20:00 while Sadie Cotton placed 11th in 20:08.

Isabelle Boniface was 34th, Kandice Kittinger 35th, Meg Anderson 76th and Alicia Mitchell 91st.

Cisco Delliquadri was tops on the boys team, placing 30th. Aubrey Morrison was 106th, Charles Leech 108th, Josh Bush 123rd, Brooks Birkinbine 124th and Eric Casey 125th.

The team returns to action this weekend with a trip to Eagle Valley.
