Sailors boys hold off late comeback effort to win by 3
Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball team was able to hold off a furious fourth-quarter comeback against Grand Junction Central on Saturday as the Sailors improved to 2-1 with a 58-55 victory.
Steamboat led by double digits for nearly the entire contest, but the Warriors’ Kyle Blair caught fire in the final 12 minutes, marching Central from a 19-point deficit entering the fourth quarter.
Blair finished with 19 points, but a big game from Steamboat senior Brody King (17 points) gave the Sailors their second win.
Robi Powers finished the Warrior Challenge in style, earning him a spot on the all-tournament team.
The team comes home for the first time Thursday for the start of the Steamboat Shoot-Out. The Sailors will open with Battle Mountain at 6:15 p.m.
