Sailor volleyball goes 2-0 Friday in first day of Glenwood invite

Austin Colbert

— The Steamboat Springs High School volleyball team won both of its matches Friday in the first day of the Glenwood Springs Invitational.

The Sailors defeated Montezuma Cortez 25-17, 25-11, before topping Vista Peak, 25-19, 25-21.

With the wins, SSHS will have a bye in the early match Saturday. The Sailors, who earned the No. 2 seed for the weekend, will have their first match at 11 a.m. against the winner of No. 3 seed Glenwood Springs and No. 6 seed Denver Christian.

Should SSHS win that match, it would play for the tournament championship shortly thereafter.

Erie is the tournament’s No. 1 seed, earning the spot over SSHS due to a points tiebreaker.
