Runners to tackle 10K at 10,000 Sunday

The Steamboat Springs Running Series returns with one of its most popular races at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The 10K at 10,000 feet will send runners along a scenic, high-altitude course on Rabbit Ears Pass. The main event is a 10-kilometer loop that cuts near Rabbit Ears Peak. There’s also a 5K race that starts at 10:05 a.m.

Registration remains open online at http://www.runningseries.com. With frills such a post-race schwag, the 10K costs $25 and the 5K $20. Online registration closes at 8 p.m. Friday.

The race starts and finishes at the Rabbit Ears monument just off Dumont Lake Road at the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass on U.S. Highway 40.
