Run, Rabbit Run donates big bucks

— Hundreds of runners took on the 100- and 50-mile Run, Rabbit Run courses in Steamboat Springs in September, and last month, the race doled out thousands of dollars to local charities.

The event, which drew many of the country’s top racers and included the largest prize purse in ultra-marathon running at $52,000, handed out nearly $28,000 to local nonprofits.

This year beneficiaries included: Teaching Tree, Scott Blair Fund, Steve Maloney Memorial Fund, Venture Crew 194 (Boy Scouts), Steamboat Springs Running Series, Routt County Youth Services Coalition, Steamboat Soccer Club, Steamboat Girl Scouts troops 54538 and 53725, Steamboat Art Museum, Girls on the Run, Yampa Valley Medical Center Cancer Center and Steamboat Mountain School.

The race returns to Steamboat Springs and its surrounding trails Sept. 8 and 9, 2017.
