Routt County Search and Rescue called out to 2 incidents Saturday

Routt County Search and Rescue wrapped up two searches Saturday, according to incident commander Kristia Check-Hill.

At about 11 a.m., Search and Rescue was called to the Indian Run Wilderness Area south of Hayden for a report of a 26-year-old male with a leg injury from being kicked by a horse.

He and a partner were out hunting on horseback when the injury occurred, Check-Hill said.

A team of six rescuers traveled the nine miles from the trailhead to the party on ATVs, she said, returning with the hunters at 7 p.m.

At 5 p.m., a second call reported a lost couple on Rabbit Ears Pass in the Fishhook Creek area.

As of 10 p.m., the couple was located about 3.5 miles off a trail they were skiing on. Search teams found them about two hours after they called to report they were lost.

Check-Hill said the couple was in good condition but was cold and tired.
