Steamboat girls lacrosse

4 p.m. Thursday: Steamboat (3-5) vs. Fruita (2-1)

4 p.m. Friday: Steamboat at Battle Mountain (3-2)

The Sailors have to be feeling good despite going 1-2 last week. The team picked up its first home win against Eagle Valley and narrowly lost to Rampart. Steamboat should be challenged in a pair of games this weekend. They should be competitive against Fruita but struggled with Battle Mountain's speed last week in losing 14-3.

The tennis season finally starts to hit its stride. Steamboat saw its first significant weekend action last weekend. The team still is fluid, seeing shifting parts throughout its four doubles slots. The team will get a good look at one of its primary regional foes in Aspen before drawing a pair of tough matches Saturday, but the team will be glad to finally play at home.

Steamboat boys lacrosse

7:30 p.m. Friday: Steamboat (5-2) at Golden (1-5)

2 p.m. Saturday: Steamboat at Cheyenne Mountain (6-0)

The weekend could go a long way in proving how good Steamboat really is. With a pair of road games at Front Range schools, the Sailors could validate themselves as 4A contenders. Saturday's game at undefeated Cheyenne Mountain will be one of the more interesting games in the state.

Steamboat girls soccer

4 p.m. Friday: Steamboat (4-1-1) at Fruita (3-2-1)

11 a.m. Saturday: Steamboat at Delta (3-5)

The Sailors have been good in their past four games, three of them at home. Steamboat needs a pair of wins this weekend on the road to set up a huge week next week. A win at Fruita nets the team four points in the league standings for beating a 5A team. Delta, despite its record, always is tough and gave Battle Mountain everything it could handle Tuesday. Bottom line is Steamboat needs to keep winning.

Steamboat boys baseball

11 a.m. Saturday: Steamboat (2-4) at Battle Mountain (0-6)

The tough luck Sailors are on the road again for a winnable doubleheader. The Sailors have scored 29 runs this season and given up 29. The team’s four losses have come by a combined eight runs, including a pair of one-run, extra innings losses. Should Steamboat stay in the the league conversation, the team needs a sweep Saturday.

Steamboat, Soroco and Hayden track and field

9 a.m. Saturday: Steamboat, Soroco and Hayden at Eagle Valley

Steamboat is coming off many season bests last weekend at the Broomfield Shootout. Soroco is coming off its first meet of the season in Cedaredge. Josie Rossi was fourth in the girls 800-meter run. Nic Paxton led the boys with a fifth in the long jump. Hayden, which was on spring break last week, returns to action this weekend.
