Routt County Conservation District seeking board members

Suzie Romig/Steamboat Pilot & Today
The Routt County Conservation District is in need of new volunteer board members for 2025 to assist in the efforts of the longstanding organization that supports agriculture and working landscapes.
The mission of the conservation district is to encourage stewardship of the natural resources in Routt County and to ensure the preservation and sustainability of working landscapes through education, financial and technical assistance.
Some of the recent efforts of the district include a six-year soil health initiative including participation in the Colorado STAR program through the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
The district hosts annual meetings and works on a multi-year virtual fence demonstration project, various watershed and irrigation programs and a weed sprayer rental program. The district also offers a Routt County Landowner Toolkit for Building Drought, Wildfire and Soil Health Resiliency.
The board time commitment is reasonable, and additional volunteer involvement will help shape agricultural related programs in the future for Routt County. The simple board application is available online at RouttCountyCD.com under the “Contact” tab.
