— A rockslide Saturday caused a brief closure of the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 40 near mile marker 143 on Rabbit Ears Pass.

The slide was reported about 6:25 p.m. Saturday and stopped traffic going westbound across the pass for about 50 minutes while Colorado Department of Transportation crews cleared the area.

“Our maintenance crews were able to get in there and clean it up,” said Tracy Trulove, regional communications manager for CDOT. “It was not a large event.”

Westbound traffic began moving again by 7:15 p.m., Trulove said.
