Retiring veteran Steamboat Pilot & Today journalist to be honored
A retirement party in honor of veteran journalist Tom Ross will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28 at the Steamboat Pilot & Today office, 1901 Curve Plaza. The drop-in event is open to the community. Light appetizers and drinks will be served.

In support of LGBTQIA community, Butcherknife Brewing Co. is hosting Pride Night at 6 to 10 p.m. June 28. There will be a dance party, the Y-Not Wagon Food Truck, games, beer and other fun surprises. All are welcome.
Steamboat student named to University of Alabama Dean’s List
Kendall Elizabeth Vogt, of Steamboat Springs, was named to the University of Alabama Dean’s List for spring 2018. To earn a place on the Dean’s List, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or greater.
Produce drive benefiting LiftUp held at City Market on July 7
LiftUp of Routt County will hold a produce drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 7 at City Market in Steamboat Springs. Anyone who donates will have the chance to win a new iPhone X.
Routt County United Way hosts float decorating barbecue event
Routt County United Way will hold a Fourth of July float decorating, barbecue event from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1 at Steamboat Interiors, 1660 Copper Ridge Court, Unit 102. Crane festival accepting entries for 2018 crane coloring contest
The Yampa Valley Crane Festival kids’ coloring contest is underway. The crane drawing, designed by art teacher Rose Swenson, is available to pickup at the following locations: Bud Werner Memorial Library, Ciao Gelato, Creekside Cafe and Yampatika. The picture is also available for download online at coloradocranes.org.
Kids can color, paint and decorate the crane drawing in any way they choose. Drawings should be returned to these same locations by Aug. 15. Winners will be notified in late August, and awards will be given out at a special ceremony at the library on Aug. 31. All contest entries will be displayed at the Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat throughout the four days of the Yampa Valley Crane Festival.
