The Steamboat Springs and Soroco cross country teams traveled to Doc Ceriani Park in Kremmling on Saturday for the West Grand Invitational.

Both schools made their marks in the event with the Sailors sweeping the meet, and Soroco’s Alan Mayer winning the boys race. Mayer, a senior, finished his 5-kilometer run in 19 minutes, 58 seconds — nearly 40 seconds ahead of Steamboat senior Michael Hagney, who finished second overall.

Sailors sophomore Ayla Oslowski was first to cross the finish line in the girls race, and eight more runners from Routt County followed her, including Steamboat juniors Grace Olexa and Novella Light in second and third respectively, as well as Soroco freshman Lupita Jaconetta in fourth.

The Sailors will next travel to Littleton for the Liberty Bell Invitational on Saturday where they will race alongside over 100 teams, while Soroco will compete against Coal Ridge in New Castle.
