Reiter 16th in Austrian World Cup

Joel Reichenberger

— Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club snowboarder Justin Reiter kept up a strong season last weekend by placing 16th in a World Cup parallel slalom snowboarding event in Bad Gastein, Austria.

That result follows up sixth- and 14th-place showings at the first two World Cup events, which took place in December.

Reiter is currently 12th in the overall World Cup standings.

Michael Trapp also competed in the event, placing 25th. Vic Wild, a former Steamboat Springs athlete who left the United States and won two Olympic gold medals for Russia last year, placed ninth.

On the women’s side, Steamboat Springs-trained athlete Ester Ledecka, competing for Czech Republic, won her race.

Next up on the World Cup schedule are two more races in Austria Jan. 22 and 23.
