Records fall at Battle Mountain

The Hayden track team is breaking records.

At the Battle Mountain Invitation last weekend in Avon, the Hayden girls set new school records in the 800-meter relay and 800-meter medley relay.

Kristin Brown, Jaci Etzler, Jeanette Miller and Jessi Babish took second place with an 800-meter relay record time of 1 minute, 50 .87 seconds.

Samantha Schoeberl, Etzler, Miller, and Babish took first place and set another school record 1:58.28 by a whopping four seconds in the 800-meter medley relay.

Last Thursday, at the North Park Invitational Adam Reck also set a new school record in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.15 seconds.

At the Battle Mountain Invitational, Kristin Brown raced to two second-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.

Etzler also took a second in the 100-meter dash, as did the 400-meter relay Brown, Etzler, Miller, and Babish.

“Overall we’re doing really well,” coach Kevin Kleckler said, “My hope is that the athletes continue to improve and peak at regionals in two weeks.”

The Tigers tracksters will practice in Craig this week with all high school and middle school coaches, as they prepare for the 2A league meet May 6 in Avon.
