Ram boys beat up on DeBeque

The score was gaudy, but Soroco High School boys’ coach Shawn Hayes said the game wasn’t pretty.

His team beat DeBeque on the road Friday night, 72-24.

“It was kind of a tough game,” he said. “We struggled in the first half, especially trying to find some continuity offensively.”

Warren Hayes led the team Friday with 20 points. Carl Rossi and Chance Beaty each chipped in 12.

The team played without Storm Veiulleux as he nursed an ankle injury preparing for a more important game at 2:30 p.m. today in Oak Creek against North Park.

“That is a big game,” Hayes said. “Last week, we got three league wins and we took them one at a time. We’ve got to do that now, too. We got the first one tonight. Now we need to get the second one. We need to buckle down and come out focused.”
