Protection order issued against man accused of meth possession
A protection order has been issued against a man who was arrested for allegedly possessing 7 grams of methamphetamine.
The protection order against Ryan Browning, 43, was issued during a court appearance Tuesday.
Browning was stopped by Deputy Aaron Clock around 8:25 p.m. Dec. 14 in the area of Hawthorne Street and U.S. Highway 40 in Hayden due to a “defective license plate light,” says the affidavit for his arrest.
After failing to provide a valid license or proof of insurance, Clock requested to search the vehicle, but Browning refused.
Clock then had Browning get out of his vehicle because he “had concerns for (his) safety after asking him about weapons and illegal substances,” says the document.
Deputies found “a meth pipe on the driver’s side floorboard between the seat and the driver’s side door,” and “a second piece of broken meth pipe in the glovebox,” according to the affidavit.
A K-9 indicated a positive alert on the car, which is when deputies found 7 grams of meth in a glass jar, says the document.
Browning was arrested for failure to present evidence of insurance, driving a motor vehicle while his license is revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Routt County Judge Erin Wilson issued the protection order, which states that Browning cannot “harass, molest, intimidate, retaliate against or tamper with any witness or victim of the acts that (he) is charged with committing.”
Wilson also ordered that Browning not possess or consume any alcohol or controlled substance, except for any valid prescription.
Browning’s next court date is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb 12.
