West Steamboat outage cased by dump truck hitting power line

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A power outage in West Steamboat is affecting over 500 homes and businesses in the Copper Ridge and Elk River Road areas, according to Yampa Valley Electric Association’s Facebook page.

A dump truck hit a power line near Steamboat Veterinary Hospital, according to police scanner traffic, causing the outage. A YVEA crew is on scene and estimates power being restored in about two hours.
