Police seek man involved in fight

— Steamboat Springs police are looking for a man who allegedly stole a restaurant umbrella and struck a car with it Tuesday evening.

Police Sgt. Dale Coyner said the intoxicated man in his mid-20s reportedly used the umbrella to hit a truck near Fifth and Yampa streets after the truck had to swerve to avoid hitting the man.

The man reportedly became aggressive with the truck’s occupants when they attempted to contact him, Coyner said.

The man also punched the truck’s passenger side window during the altercation, causing the window to shatter.

The truck’s occupants sustained minor scratches from the broken glass, but otherwise were unharmed, he said.

The man reportedly left the scene of the incident after one of the truck’s occupants called 911, Coyner said.

Police said the man had blond hair and a thin build.

He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The man may have injured his hand in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 879-4344.
