Police pursuit in Steamboat ends in arrest

— A police pursuit that passed through Steamboat Springs Monday morning ended with a 39-year-old Castle Rock woman being arrested.

Erin N. Power was arrested on suspicion of vehicular felony eluding, speeding, no proof of insurance, illegal passing, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, weaving and for driving on the wrong side of the road. Colorado State Patrol Corporal Brian Bagley said Power was also going to be charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He did not know what specific drugs were involved.

Bagley said that shortly after 7:30 a.m. a trooper was driving a marked patrol car on U.S. Highway 40 west of Steamboat and was passed by Power. The trooper clocked Power’s speed at 96 mph.

The trooper tried to pull over Power, but she did not stop. There was a short pursuit that went through Steamboat, and a trooper stopped the vehicle by deploying stop sticks.

Power was arrested without incident. No one was injured, and no property was damaged.
