Police locate missing Steamboat man

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The 29-year-old Steamboat Springs man reported missing Monday has been located, and he is fine.

Steamboat Police Commander Jerry Stabile said the man did not tell police where he was. His cell phone was broken, and he had no way of contacting friends or family.

The man called his girlfriend Saturday morning and said he was going rock climbing in Grand Junction.

The girlfriend planned to meet up with the man on Saturday night, but she never heard from him.

Police tracked the man’s phone Monday afternoon, and it returned a location in a remote part of Larimer County outside Fort Collins.

Steamboat police were working with Larimer County police to search the area.
