The city will begin public infrastructure upgrades to Pine Grove Road on June 23, according to a news release.
Construction on Pine Grove Road, the most heavily traveled corridor in the city, will begin along the edges of the roadway and then progress toward the center.
The most significant traffic impacts are expected in mid- to late-summer when lane closures and detours may be required, according to the release.
“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we carry out this important project,” said City Engineer Matt Phillips in the statement. “These improvements will make Pine Grove Road safer, more durable and more accessible for everyone who lives, works or travels through this area.”

Phase 1 of construction will begin June 23 and continue through the last week of October. The project will extend from the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 to about 250 feet past the Central Park Drive intersection.
The project is expected to provide roadway, pedestrian and safety enhancements that will improve long-term functionality of the road and overall travel experience.
- Roadway reconstruction: A new asphalt surface and strengthened road base will significantly improve drivability and extend the life of the roadway.
- New sidewalks: Sidewalks will be installed along the front of many properties, providing better pedestrian connectivity throughout the corridor.
- Enhanced bus stop: A bus stop near Angels View Way will receive safety upgrades, including a pedestrian-activated crossing signal to help transit riders cross safely.
- Drainage improvements: New stormwater infrastructure will be installed to improve drainage and reduce the risk of roadway flooding.
