Peter Flint chosen as new Routt County Planning Commissioner
March 22, 2016
Citing his previous experience on community boards, including a stint on a homeowners association in a suburb of Minneapolis, the Routt County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to add Peter Flint to represent the town of Yampa on the County Planning Commission.
A psychologist by profession, Flint replaces Richard Klumker, who informed the county he would not seek a new term. Flint will serve through March 2019. The vote was 2-0 by Commissioners Tim Corrigan and Doug Monger with Commissioner Cari Hermacinski absent.
Flint told the BOC that, after seeing urban sprawl taking place without thought to considerations such as traffic flow in his former home of Plymouth, Minn., he places a high value on preserving Routt County's rural ranching heritage, while also keeping a thoughtful eye on economic drivers in the local community.
In related action, the two commissioners returned three incumbent commissioners to their seats for new three-year terms. They include: Andrew Benjamin, representing Oak Creek; Planning Commission Vice Chairman Brian Arel, who holds the at-large seat; and alternate Doug Baker.
