Paul Stettner: Care to share the letter?

This is an open letter to Senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardener and Rep. Scott Tipton.

Recently a Mr. Doug Hughes (postal carrier) flew his gyrocopter onto the White House lawn to personally deliver his letter to you and every other member of Congress. This must be quite the letter as his was a most extraordinary act of dedication, skill and courage — even if it was illegal.

As is custom, the media generated much excitement about his flight and breached security, but gave little, if any, coverage to the contents of his letter, or Congress’ reaction and response (if any).

Likely it was not a letter commending Congress but rather one that spoke to Congress’ ineffectiveness and inattentiveness to the critical issues of our time as well as the deleterious influence of excessive money and lobbying has on our lawmakers.

I’m curious about this letter, and I think that many of your constituents would join me in wanting to see both a copy of his letter and your response — if any.

Care to share?

P.S.: If he is still being held in jail, I encourage you to work for his timely release.
