The city of Steamboat Springs will host a Historic Preservation Plan Open House at 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday to collect public input on draft vision and goals for the citywide plan.
Community members can help shape the next phase of Steamboat’s comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan at this public event at Tread of Pioneers Museum, 800 Oak St. near downtown Steamboat. Organizers say historic preservation is a strategic tool that can support housing, recreation, sustainability and community identity.
“Historic preservation touches everyone in different and meaningful ways,” said city Historic Preservation Planner Caitlin Berube-Smith. “Whether you’re a longtime local or new to the Yampa Valley, your voice is critical in shaping the future of preservation in our community.”
The open house will feature interactive activities for participants to provide input on the draft recommendations for the Historic Preservation Plan and updated Historic Design Guidelines with more information online at EngageStaemboat.net/historic-preservation-plan.
Representatives from consulting firm Logan Simpson will share key findings and facilitate discussions.
In July the plan will be finalized and presented to the city’s Historic Preservation Commission, which will forward recommendations to City Council in August. A public hearing and formal adoption are anticipated in September or October. For questions, contact Berube-Smith at cberubesmith@steamboatsprings.net.
