Opal May Stewart

Former Routt County resident Opal May Stewart died Sept. 7, 2006, in Sterling. She was 69.

Opal was born Dec. 4, 1936, in Newkirk, Okla., to John and Mildred (Rouse) Lindsay. She graduated from Newkirk High School.

On Sept. 28, 1956, she married Ron Stewart. She was a housewife who also worked as a bookkeeper for Stewart’s Detailing.



She enjoyed sewing, fishing and being with her family.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Stewart; her parents; a grandson, Blane Stewart; a sister, Jean; and a brother, Donald.



She is survived by her sons, Steve, and his wife, Suzanne Stewart, of Sterling, Doug and his wife, Cindy Stewart, of Sterling and Mark Stewart of Greeley; daughter, Roni Stewart of Granby; brother, Alfred Lindsay and his wife, Anita; brothers-in-law, Bob Stewart and his wife, Shirley, and Russ Stewart and his wife, Barbara; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation was Sept. 10, 2006, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Sept. 11, 2006, at Tennant Funeral Home. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Opal Stewart Memorial Fund.
