Officials await Dady toxicology findings

— Local authorities still are waiting for the results from a toxicology report on Steamboat Springs resident Keith Dady, who died Dec. 9 after a Dec. 4 fight with a friend at his Steamboat condo.

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said he has been checking daily with the Arapahoe County Coroner's office, where the autopsy was performed. He said it's unusual to wait this long for results.

"It just doesn't make any sense," he said.

Dady died after an argument with his friend, Joshua Burns. During the argument, Dady reportedly burst into Burns' room. Burns told police that he threw Dady off him. Dady apparently hit his head on a bookcase, and authorities suspect he died from the head injury or from suffocation in the way he landed, but police are awaiting a final report to make any decisions about criminal charges.

Steamboat Springs Detective Nick Bosick said he has spoken with Burns during the course of the investigation and that when the toxicology report arrives, he said he would sit down with attorneys in the Routt County District Attorney's Office and determine what criminal charges, if any, are appropriate.

Arapahoe County Coroner Dr. Michael Doberson said he is waiting for toxicology results from Colorado Springs. Once he has those results, which he said he expects in the next couple of days, he will compile the final report to send to Ryg.
