Obituary: Mary Jane Singer

Mary Jane Singer
July 25, 1919 — September 23, 2018
Mary Jane Castle was born in Kansas City, Missouri July 25, 1919, the daughter of Lena and Roy Castle. In her mid 20’s she moved to Los Angeles, met and married Noel Singer and raised four children as a homemaker. Widowed in the early 1970’s, this intensely private person lived a quiet life, traveling extensively over the years, enjoying her garden and art at home. She moved to Steamboat in 1990 to be near two of her Sons, enjoying life in “The Little City” as she called it.
In declining health 14 of her 28 years in Steamboat, she struggled but remained defiant to her increasing challenges. Unfortunately, she experienced many falls, many injuries.
The last year and a half she was a resident at Doak Walker House at Casey’s Pond. One fall too many ended her life. She died on September 23, 2018. She was 99 years old.
She is survived by her four children. Noel Stephen, John Michael, Kathryn Jane and William Scott Singer.
I would like to thank everyone at Doak Walker House who helped her in the last difficult chapter of her life. They do a fantastic job and gave her their very best efforts, showing her love and compassion………. John Michael Singer
From Mary Jane Singer:
“I was born, I lived, I loved my life. Se Finis.”
As per her request, no memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Routt County Humane Society. Jane loved all animals, big and small.
