Obituary: Carol Mitchell

December 7, 1923- January 11, 2018
Carol Mitchell passed away January 11, 2018 at her Grand Junction home with her loving family by her side, she was 94.
Carol was born on December 7, 1923 from the union of Warren and Lucy Rider in Steamboat Springs. She spent her childhood in Steamboat Springs on the ranch at Elk River and was a Grand Junction resident for the past forty eight years. She attended Mesa College and later worked for the State of Colorado. Carol married George Franz and they later divorced, she married Jim Mitchell in 1983 and he preceded her in death. Carol enjoyed playing bridge and traveling with friends. These traveling adventures would take them to New York, Nashville to see the Grand Old Opry to international traveling to Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Russia. She loved her family and she will be greatly missed.
Carol leaves behind a son; Bert Franz of Parachute, Colorado, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kent Franz and a brother, Bud Rider.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Martin Mortuary.
