December 24, 1942 – March 4, 2025

Our good friend Margaret “Peggy” Anne Epstein passed away Tuesday March 4, after a long battle with cancer. Born December 24, 1942, Brooklyn, NY, to George and Agnes (Connolly) Sullivan. She grew up in Lynbrook, NY and studied at Hofstra University. Peggy had an adventurous spirit and a love of travel, exploring the world with family and friends. Peggy met Alvin Epstein through their shared love of sailing. Al was the love of her life. She and Al married and eventually retired together, splitting their time between Delray Beach, Florida and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Peggy and Al shared a passion for both boating and skiing. As owners of a large sailboat and later cruising a trawler, they explored the East coast and the Bahamas. Peggy and Al enjoyed the outdoors, skiing and hiking in Steamboat Springs.
Peggy was an accomplished fly fisher. She fished across the American West and in remote and exotic destinations worldwide. Along the way, she forged countless lifelong friendships. In addition to fishing, she spent her time reading, hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, entertaining, and simply spending time with friends.
Peggy will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous heart, and adventurous spirit. She leaves behind a community of friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Her friends and family ask that in lieu of flowers people do something nice for someone. Donations can be made in her name to the Routt County Humane Society.
