October 19, 1935 – December 14, 2024

Julia Jane was born in Arnold, NE October 19, 1935 to Martha M. (Blixt) and Keith N. Wheeler. Janie’s mother passed away when she was 12, so her father packed the three kids up and brought them to live with his brother Orell and Marj Wheeler. They lived on the Elk River near Steamboat.
She went to high school in Steamboat where she met Gonk Jacobs. On February 16, 1955 they were united in marriage. To this union seven children were born.
Janie worked hard to help support this ranching family. She was a waitress at the Ski Inn Café, a bartender at the Harbor Hotel, worked at Safeway (1965-1975) and rounded out her work career at the Post Office (1975-1998). Along with that she drove stock cars and bowled for fun. The kids were active in 4-H and the boys in school sports. The family supported each other in all events. There was never a dull moment.
After leaving the Steamboat area she filled her time with family, friends and faith.
Janie went to be with our Lord December 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gonk. She is survived by Colleen Blake (Tony), Noreen Williams (Doug), Janeen Deines, Valeen Jacobs, Bernadeen Notari (Dave), Judd Jacobs (Sandy), Shane Jacobs, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Memorial services are 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Journey Church in Craig, CO with a reception following at the church.
