Gordon Thierry Grandbouche passed away in Grand Jct., CO May 1, 2025, at the age of ninety. Gordon was a dedicated Father, Grandfather, and mentor to many of the youth in Craig/Hayden over the years.
Born in Gurley, Nebraska on January 9, 1935, the fourth of five children born to Lester and Elva Grandbouche. Gordon came to Hayden in 1941 when his father was hired to run the Hayden Grain Elevator. Gordon graduated from Hayden Union High School in 1953 and attended CSU graduating with a degree in Geology. Gordon enlisted in the US Army in August 1959, Gordon and his family returned to Hayden in 1962, and he remained in the valley until shortly before his death. Gordon honorably was discharged from the US Army in 1965.
Gordon followed in his father’s footsteps in the grain business and owned & operated Craig Grain for 43 years from 1967 until his retirement in July of 2010.
Summers saw family fishing & camping trips into the high country; he loved fishing and road trips with the Grandkids. Spring was busy with treating grain and farming his own ground, keeping farmers/ranchers stocked with the supplies they needed. Fall all the hard work of summer was seen in every truck load of grain that came across the scale, a smile on his face as he weighed a truck load of grain and then dashed out the back door and ran to unload the truck, then ran back to weigh the next one. Over the years many youths worked at the elevator and Gordon had lifelong friendships with those people. In addition to his work and family Gordon engaged in many different community groups/boards in both Hayden and Craig.
He is survived by his children, Jody (Ed) Camilletti, Bret (Glenna) Grandbouche, Thad & (Colette) Grandbouche, grandchildren Ruddy ( Shelly) Camilletti, Nikki (Chad) Groce, Ty (Jesse) Grandbouche, Cortney (Bryan) Richards, great grandchildren Avery Camilletti, Dominic, Derek & Gabriella Groce, Jace Grandbouche, Easton & Charlotte Richards, his sister-in-law Helen Grandbouche and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester & Elva (Christensen) Grandbouche, his siblings, Kent, Neil, Gail, Steve, and Great Grandson Gage.
A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held June 8, 2025, at the Haven Community Center from 1-4.
