Kenneth Dwayne Henderson
Kenneth Dwayne Henderson, 76, passed away in his home in Richfield, Utah, Monday, January 30, 2017 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ken was born September 26, 1940 in Craig to David E. Henderson and Evelyn M. Poulson, married Sally Terrill in 1960 (divorced in 1990), and all 6 of his children were born here.
His father Dave, started Henderson Construction in Craig in the late 40’s and Ken ran the company after his father’s death in 1962.
Ken graduated from Moffat County High School in 1958 and from Colorado State University with bachelors in Civil Engineering in 1962. He also obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from Arizona State University in 1996.
He worked most of his life in construction and mining then later in mining reclamation. He started in mining at Silengo Coal (now Arch Minerals) south of Craig as a mining supervisor, and then went to Hanna, WY in 1972 to work for Energy Development. From there he went to Mid-Continent Coal in Carbondale, CO and worked as a mine supervisor of #5 mine until 1976.
Ken and Sally bought Mesa Lakes Resort on the Grand Mesa east of Grand Junction in 1976 and Sally ran that business for the next 20 years.
Ken worked for W.A. Bowes, Inc., Steamboat Springs, and supervised mining projects and minerals exploration until 1994 when he started Western States Grading to do mining reclamation work in most of the western states. He retired in 2002 in Richfield, UT where he lived with his second wife, Linda McCormick Beynon Henderson.
Ken was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was serving a calling at the Family History Library at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne and Ralph.
Ken is survived by his first wife, Sally Terrill Malchow (Fruita, CO), his children, Lori Randall (Fruita, CO), Julie Marsh (Joseph, UT), Jill Brown (Coalville, UT), Amy Boeru (Mesa, AZ), Mel (Boise, ID) and Leslie Mantlo (Grand Junction, CO), and his brother, Gerald Henderson (Mesa, AZ). Also his aunt, Faye Paulson, and cousins, Carol Preece, Teddy Paulson, Jackie Paulson, and Jerry Paulson, and brother-in-law, William Terrill, all of Craig. Also 19 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his second wife, Linda McCormick Beynon Henderson of Richfield, UT.
His funeral service was held Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Richfield East Stake Center, 800 North 500 East, Richfield, UT, at 1 pm. Speakers included his brother, Gerald Henderson, Terry Winslow, Jim Dunn and Mel Brown. He was buried in the Richfield City Cemetery.
