Jean Ellen (Crawford) Olson
1935 2016
Jean Ellen (Crawford) Olson (81) died December 10, 2016, with her loving family and devoted caregivers by her side.
Jean was born & raised in Steamboat Springs, Co, also known as Ski Town, USA. She loved growing up in Steamboat, along with her 3 siblings, and was actively involved in many school groups, most notably her high school ski band. One of her fondest memories was being crowned Winter Carnival Queen of 1953, where she and her attendants skied down Howelson hill in their gowns and tiaras, which coincidentally ended up being featured in National Geographic.
She settled in Sunnyvale to raise her children and was active in various local advocacy groups. She loved to travel, was fun loving and a very kind and gentle person.
Jean is survived by her children, Deborah Olson, Charlie Olson & Carol Olson Bussert, her sister Marlene (Crawford) Willie, her beloved sons-from-different-mothers Jean Pierre Labari & Gary Bussert, as well as her many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The family wishes to thank her long-term caregivers for the gentle and loving care they gave her, and to all who helped her navigate the difficult journey that is ALS. Lastly, a big thank you to our cousin Janet Willie for tenderly attending to our mother during her final days.
An Open House Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held Saturday, January 14th, 2017 @ The Clubhouse @ Rancho Deep Cliff, Clubhouse Ln., Cupertino, CA 95014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
