1943-2016
Nicholas J. Kamzalow, 72, of Craig, CO. died peacefully on Feb. 23, 2016 at his home. Born Mar. 26, 1943 in Bairdford, Pa., he was the son of Nicholas Kamzalow and Mary (Sherbon) Kamzalow. He attended West Deer high school, and graduated with the class of 1960. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, served four years active duty, then entered the Army National Guard, and proudly served his country for 38 years. On May 4, 1969, he married Pamela Fritz, and in May 1971 they relocated to Coal Creek Canyon CO., where they became the proud parents of daughters Dana and Valerie. They subsequently moved to Craig, CO. where Nick, in addition to being in the Army National Guard, was employed as a supervisor at the Cypress Empire coalmine. Later, he pursued his dream of having his own sporting goods store called Outdoor Connections, and provided services to out- of- state sportsmen at his cabin located in the Wilderness Ranch area of CO. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He was preceded in death by his wife Pamela, and his parents Nicholas and Mary. He is survived by daughters Dana Kirby, and Valerie Kamzalow; grandchildren Lauren and Zaylan Kirby, Teigen and Evan Martin; and brother Ted (Theodore). Services are planning to be held on June 18th at the family property on Wilderness Ranch. Memorial donations may be made to VFW Post #4265 in care of Grant Mortuary.
