Soon after her birth, Barb’s family moved to the Kansas City, Missouri area and settled in East Independence. She attended a two-room grade school, Spring Branch, for eight years. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1947. Barbara chose to enter the nursing profession and graduated from the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. She enjoyed golf, bridge, quilting, gardening, and cooking. She was a Den Mother, as well as a Campfire, Brownie, and Girl Scout leader when her children were small. After retirement, she volunteered for several years at Our Daily Bread in Enid.
