Beatrice Rose Roe
April 12, 2013
Beatrice Rose Roe passed away peacefully April 9, 2013, at Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Craig, where she had resided for just over one week.
Beatrice (Bea), daughter of Rhoda (Adams) and Ira McAlister, was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Rawlins Wyo., and grew up in and around Dixon, Wyo. She was the great-granddaughter of the scout, fur trapper and early Little Snake River Valley settler Jim Baker.
Bea graduated from Dixon High School in 1942, second in her class of three. She married Robert C. Roe in Craig on June 11, 1946. The couple moved to Powell, Wyo., in 1950 and then to Worland, Wyo., in 1958. They were the parents of two children, Robert P. and John T. Roe. After her husband's death in 1966, Bea finished rearing their two boys on her own in Worland. Bea moved back to Craig to be near her sister and brothers in 1997.
Bea's greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed gardening — her beds were always filled with lovely flowers — and playing bridge. Bea belonged to bridge clubs in Worland and in Craig until shortly before her death.
Beatrice was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert; son, John Roe; parents, Rhoda and Ira; and brothers Bruce and Don McAlister.
She is survived by her sister, Iris Balleck, of Craig; brother Paul McAllister and wife, Fran, of Dixon; son Robert Roe and wife, Coleen, of Rolla Mo.; daughter-in-law Crystal Roe, of Craig; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two step-great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Bea will be held in Dixon, Wyo., on Memorial Day weekend with internment afterwards in the Baker Cemetery near Savery, Wyo.
