Roy Wayne Blevins

Roy Wayne Blevins, 89, of Delta, CO passed away December 15, 2012 at Aurora-Denver Medi-cal Center, following a brief illness.
Roy, the ninth of 12 children, was born March 21, 1923 in Lay, Moffat County, CO to parents Thomas and Ethel (Gadd) Blevins. His father died when Roy was just 11 years old, and he spent his teenage years living with his sister and her husband, Luella and Chuck Crosthwaite, in Craig, CO before graduating high school there in 1941.
When World War II broke out, Roy joined the Navy as a signalman and served with the Armed Guard in the Pacific theater. After the war he was united in marriage on January 3, 1947 to Juanita Perfect of Caldwell, ID. To this union one son, Ter-ry, was born.
Roy spent many years working in the Colorado and Wyoming oil fields. He retired in 1980, and he and Juanita moved to Delta in 1981. There Roy be-gan a second career with Towsley Lock and Key, working there for many years.
After his second retirement, Roy devoted him-self to maintaining his house and yard, enjoying time with his family, reading books, and watching football and his favorite westerns on television. Alt-hough Roy was a private man, he was always will-ing to help friends and neighbors when they needed it.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ethel, and by 11 siblings: brothers—Alfred, Thomas, Bruce, Bob and Nathan, and sis-ters—Lucille, Laura, Luella, Clara, Grace, and Bev-erly. He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Juanita (Perfect) Blevins; by his son, Terry (Dee Ann) Blevins, of Hugo, CO; by his grandchildren, Karina Low of Parker, CO, Lani Blevins and Ben-jamin Blevins, both of Hugo, CO, and Ginger Grauberger and Cortney Grauberger, both of Oma-ha, NE. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Sidney Gotto of Centennial, CO and Jordan Low, of Parker, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sat-urday, December 22, 2012 at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, 682 1725 Road in Delta, with burial at the Delta City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Fund, PO Box 7262, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
