Carol A. Kratky, 71, a resident of Prescott, Ariz., for 13 years, died Sept. 8, 2002.
She was born March 26, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., to Hilding and Dorothy (Christensen) Osberg. She and her family moved to Steamboat Springs in the summer of 1978.
Carol and her husband, Robert, owned and operated Village Center Liquor for several years.
She will be remembered as a gentle, loving and kindhearted person who was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert; daughter and son-in-law April and Matt Cretney of Steamboat Springs; son Robert A. Kratky of Steamboat Springs; sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Ron Smoy of Mount Prospect, Ill.; and loving granddaughter Samantha Cretney.
Memorial contributions may be made in Carol Kratky’s honor to the American Cancer Society, 2724 E. Lakin, Suite 9, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, or the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 “L” St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.

Birthplace of modern mountain biking listed for $2.4M

The iconic cone-shaped building on the corner of Yampa and 11th streets in downtown Steamboat Springs was once a wood-waste burner before being moved to become the home for Sore Saddle Cyclery and Moots Bicycles.
